How we picked these hotels
Every hotel in this guide is listed at 3 stars or more on Agoda, has a guest score of 8.0 or higher and at least 50 reviews, and is within 20 km of the city center. Dormitory beds and rooms with a shared bathroom are left out, and breakfast, price and room type are checked again hotel by hotel. This check found 41 hotels in Tokyo that met these rules, from Agoda's partner results sorted by recommendation, star rating and price (not every hotel in the city). Their middle price was $152 a night: Best value is picked at or below it, and Best luxury at or above it. Categories are filled by fixed rules from the same data, and no hotel pays to be listed.
